Coffee

For Barometric Pressure Headache

I am prone to barometric pressure headaches and coffee provides pretty quick relief. 2 cups, strong black coffee. It shouldn't matter whether you take sugar or milk, but somehow the extreme bitterness of black coffee does psychologically help.

Gargling Salt Water

For Upper Respiratory Infection

This seems to help, but not sure of its effectiveness. The key is to try to coat your throat with warm salt water as deep into the throat WITHOUT swallowing the salt water!

This is a great treatment for a pulled back. Alternating heat therapy and cold therapy throughout the day helps even more.

Massage

This does not help if you have already pulled your back. This is an effective treatment for preventative back pain and also relief when your back has already somewhat healed and you are already recovering.

Physical Therapy

For Back Pain

This is the best option for long term back pain. The treatment usually does NOT involve the back, ironically. Physical therapy tries to see where the imbalance in your other muscles is causing chronic back pain.

Ibuprofen

For Back Pain

This is my go-to treatment for general muscle pain. But if I actually pulled a muscle or if the pain is severe, I prefer Aleve.

My go-to treatment for muscle pull.

This was one of the treatments recommended by my primary care physician. It does not work as well as the Fluticasone. There was also a suggestion to use in conjunction with Ketoconazole cream 2% as an anti bacterial.

Very effective for eczema flare ups. If I could always use this treatment, I would. However, long term steroid treatment on the face is not recommended, so I have looked into other treatments for the face.

I prefer Aquaphor, but my primary care physician prefers Vaseline. It seems to work similarly to Aquaphor

This is great as a "super" lotion for eczema.

If I'm getting an eczema flare up (near the eyes) this will not provide immediate relief. However, continued daily usage seems to help with reducing eczema flare ups.

Guaifenesin

I think this helps with the coughing but the relief is not immediate. I take it when I get sick, but not sure if it works.

Nasal irrigation

Definitely helps with post nasal drip, but also good for preventative.

This is my go-to treatment for coughing.

Honey

For Upper Respiratory Infection

I mixed 2 tablespoon of honey with 170 deg to boiling water and a tea bag. The honey doesn't prevent coughing from upper respiratory infection. However, when the respiratory infection comes with a long-term (2-4 weeks) severe post nasal drip, the coughing can irritate and severely hurt the throat and lungs. By using honey 2-4 times per day, I got through the 4 weeks without any serious pain from the constant coughing.
