Aquaphor

Aquaphor is an occlusive moisturizer that helps restore and protect the skin barrier in eczema by sealing in moisture and reducing dryness and cracking. Unlike Vaseline, it also contains ingredients like lanolin and glycerin, which can add hydration but may irritate a small number of people with very sensitive skin. It doesn’t treat inflammation directly, but regular use can reduce flares and improve comfort. Aquaphor is safe for frequent use and works best when applied right after bathing or alongside topical medications.

Aquaphor is a great option for eczema—it does an excellent job locking in moisture and helping repair the skin barrier, especially during flare-ups or with very dry skin. I’ve found it especially helpful when lighter moisturizers aren’t enough. The downside is that it’s quite greasy, which makes it less practical during the day, so I usually save it for nighttime use—and honestly, that means I sometimes forget to use it consistently.

Regularly an option of suggest to my patients for use with dry, irritated skin. Works well when used as a barrier for such things as burns.

This is great as a "super" lotion for eczema.
