Nasacort (triamcinolone acetonide) is an over-the-counter intranasal corticosteroid used to treat allergic rhinitis (seasonal or year-round). It works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages, helping relieve symptoms like congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and nasal itching.

It’s considered a first-line treatment for moderate to severe allergy symptoms. Unlike antihistamines, it targets the underlying inflammation, but it may take a few days of consistent use (up to ~1 week for full effect). It’s generally well tolerated, with occasional side effects like nasal irritation, dryness, or minor nosebleeds.

Best used daily during allergy season, rather than as-needed, for optimal symptom control.
