Zicam Cough/Cold

Alternative Names: Zicam

Zicam Cough & Cold is an over-the-counter medication used to help relieve symptoms of an upper respiratory illness, such as cough, congestion, and throat irritation. It typically contains a combination of ingredients that can help suppress cough and soothe irritated airways. Some formulations also include zinc, which is marketed to help shorten the duration of cold symptoms, though the evidence is mixed. I like both the Zicam Nasal Spray and tablets. If I have the start of a cold, and it's more nasal symptoms, I use the spray. If it's more of a scratchy/sore throat, I use tablets. The key to Zicam is using it right away when you get symptoms, you can't wait, and you need to repeat every few hours.
