Peramivir (Rapivab) is an effective intravenous medication for treating acute uncomplicated influenza in patients aged 2 years and older.

Peramivir can reduce the duration of influenza symptoms. In adults, a single 600 mg dose of peramivir administered within 48 hours of symptom onset resulted in a median reduction of 21 hours in the time to alleviation of combined influenza symptoms compared to placebo. Additionally, the median time to recovery to normal temperature was approximately 12 hours sooner in the peramivir group compared to placebo.
