Ibuprofen

Alternative Names: Motrin, Advil

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that reduces pain by inhibiting prostaglandin production, decreasing inflammation and pain signaling. In barometric pressure headaches, it helps counteract the inflammatory and vascular responses triggered by atmospheric pressure changes. This leads to reduced sensitivity in sinus tissues and blood vessels, easing the pressure-like pain. Its effects are most noticeable when taken early in the course of symptoms.
