Golimumab
Alternative Names: Simponi, Simponi Aria
Golimumab (Simponi, Simponi Aria) is a TNF-alpha inhibitor biologic DMARD used for moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, usually with methotrexate. It comes as a monthly subcutaneous injection or an IV infusion every 8 weeks, making it one of the more convenient options among TNF blockers. Golimumab helps reduce pain, swelling, and long-term joint damage in patients who haven’t responded well to conventional DMARDs. Side effects include injection or infusion reactions and an increased risk of infections such as tuberculosis or hepatitis, so screening and regular monitoring are required. Overall, it is an effective and relatively low-frequency dosing option for RA.
Treatment Type: Prescription Medication
Treatment Class: Anti TNF alpha
Treatment Modality: Injection, Intravenous (IV)
