Ciprofloxacin 0.3%
Alternative Names: Ciloxan
Ciprofloxacin eye drops are often used for corneal abrasions related to contact lens use, since these injuries carry a higher risk of infection with Pseudomonas. This antibiotic has strong coverage against Pseudomonas and other bacteria that can infect the cornea. While many simple corneal abrasions heal without antibiotics, contact lens–related abrasions are treated more aggressively because infections in this setting can progress quickly. Using ciprofloxacin helps provide targeted protection against these higher-risk organisms while the cornea heals.
