Aripiprazole is an atypical antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia. This unique mechanism helps reduce hallucinations and delusions while generally causing fewer side effects related to movement and sedation. Common side effects include restlessness (akathisia), insomnia, nausea, and sometimes weight gain, though usually less than with other agents like olanzapine.
